MARCEN
Despite growing recognition of indigenous peoples’ rights, true inclusion in laws and societies remains uneven. Many indigenous peoples continue to face marginalisation, limited legal representation and the impact of historical injustices. The ERC-funded MARCEN project aims to address these challenges by developing a legal inclusion theory. Focusing on the Nordic countries and the Sámi people in Sweden, Norway, and Finland – particularly the contemporary truth commissions – MARCEN explores how laws, governance and history shape notions of indigeneity. The project’s findings seek to transform approaches to inclusion globally.
